Data Deletion

Effective October 13, 2026

What Tidy stores

  • Account details: your name, email address, and plan.
  • Your content: the email, calendar events, notes, tasks, files, contacts, voice recordings, and photos you connect or create.
  • Derived AI data: summaries, embeddings, and structure Tidy generated from your content.
  • Usage metrics: content-free signals about whether the app is working.
  • Connected-account credentials: the tokens for the accounts you connected, encrypted separately.
  • Your phone number, if you turned on texts.

How to delete

Either way starts the same deletion:

  1. In the app. Open Settings: Privacy & Data on web, or Storage then Manage account data on Android. Tidy shows what will be deleted and asks you to confirm. If you own a workspace that has other people in it, transfer it or remove them first.
  2. By email. Write to [email protected] from the address on your account. We confirm with you before we act.

The timeline

  • The 7-day grace period. When you ask to delete your account, deletion is scheduled for 7 days later. Your account keeps working meanwhile, and you can cancel in Settings or by email. If you don’t want to wait, you can choose to delete right away instead.
  • Deletion from live systems. When the grace period ends, deletion runs automatically and usually finishes within minutes: your account, sessions, connected-account credentials, content, and derived AI data are removed. If a step fails, we are alerted and finish it. Either way, deletion from our live systems completes within 30 days of your request.
  • Your devices. The app clears its local copy the next time it hears about the deletion. A device that stays offline keeps its copy until it reconnects.
  • Backups. Deleted data leaves our backups as they expire, within 6 months. Backups are encrypted, and they are never used to bring back a deleted account: if we ever restore a backup, we repeat the deletion first.

Get a copy first

Ask [email protected] for a copy of your data before you delete your account. Once deletion runs, deleted content can’t be exported.

Shared workspaces

A workspace only you own is deleted with your account. In a workspace other people keep using, your membership is removed, and content you shared there can stay for them. The confirmation screen tells you which applies.

What stays after deletion

A few records outlive an account. None of them is a working copy of your inbox, notes, or files:

  • Billing records. Stripe keeps payment and tax records as the law requires. We keep minimal billing references (such as Stripe ids) for refunds, disputes, and tax for up to 7 years.
  • A returning-customer marker. A one-way code made from your email, kept for 2 years so a free trial can’t be claimed twice.
  • Security logs. Audit logs of sign-ins and actions in the service, kept for 1 year. System logs, kept for 60 days.
  • Proof of deletion. A record that your deletion was requested and done, kept for 6 years. Any consent or legal-hold record we must keep, kept for 2 years.
  • The texting opt-out list. If you replied STOP to our texts, we keep your number and the date on our opt-out list so we never text it again.
  • Crash reports. None are collected today. If we turn crash reporting on, reports already sent stay with Sentry until its retention deletes them.

Changing your mind

During the 7-day grace period, cancel in Settings or by email and nothing is deleted. After that, deletion can’t be undone.

Data at the source

Deleting your Tidy account doesn’t touch your other accounts. Disconnecting Google disables Tidy’s connection and revokes its saved credentials, and you can also remove Tidy’s access in your Google account settings. Mail and files in Gmail or Drive are deleted at Google.
